ok heyy all.
after being busy spreading the word about global warming just 2 minutes ago, now i can write calmly. well, more calmly. then 2 minutes ago. 2 and a half.
ok so anyway, i remember in my post "all about a vegan", i told of my artist idol i look up to. listen, i've just heard of another besides Dan Piraro. his name's Danny Gregory (wow artists really have this Dan/iel curse thing goin on).
so anyway, lemme first tell you about Danny. he didn't start drawing before talking, like Pablo Picasso (Picasso used to draw the things he wanted before -yes- he could even TALK). he did in his mid-30s, 2 years after his poor wife Patti got crippled in a train accident. see? drawing isn't a talent he's born with man, just like speaking French. you kind of learn. you can take up lessons, but you don't need to. which is why i am going to nurture my illustration skills if i am gonna take it as a career in an illustrated journal.
i'm gonna record my life, my whole meaning in there. myself, my creativity no matter how bad. as Danny says, There are NO bad drawings. i am coming to think he's right- it's only this little demon in our minds that say 'ew' or 'this looks bad' or 'my work is horrible and i'm not artistic' or 'trash. start again'.
we shouldn't let ourselves be overpowered by these gremlins or monsters or in some cases, scary octopus-like creatures. or even hairy balls with a mouth (see? no eyes even.).
i hope i speak for all artist when i say use pens! don't go use a pencil and erase every second line you draw. just speak your mind. no no, draw your mind. i think.
